- Biographical Description
- Thomas Osburn (alias Thomas Hardsburn) was born around 1742. In was a bound servant near Princeton, New Jersey, and he was likely of African descent. He ran away in 1764 from the household of William Nalls. A runaway ad published after his escape stated that he had a "brown complexion." Thomas Osburn was pursued by William Nalls and another white man named George Campbell. It appears that either Thomas Osburn was bound to both of these men, or that he was hired out from one master to the other.
