Rev. Peter Labagh was a Dutch Reformed clergyman. He was born in New York City and pastored churches in Kentucky and in Catskill, New York, as a young man. In 1809, he moved to New Jersey and took over the Reformed Church of Harlingen in Montgomery Township, Somerset County. He was elected a trustee of Queens College (now Rutgers University) in 1811 and served until his death in 1858.
Somerset County records indicate that he held people in slavery in the early 19th century while he was the pastor of the Harlingen church and a trustee of Queen's College. - Keywords
