- Biographical Description
- Somerset County birth records of enslaved children contain a birth certificate for Rachel, daughter of Jenny and Tom, born on 9 November 1804, enslaved by John Frelinghuysen. Rachel was born in Hillsborough township. Her enslaver was living at the old Frelinghuysen homestead in Millstone at the time of her birth, but around 1810 he moved back to his main property in Bridgewater, now known as the historic General John Frelinghuysen House (in the present-day borough of Raritan). Presumably, Rachel and her family moved to that house with Frelinghuysen.
