Burlington County Deed Book A, Folio 224, contains a manumission record for Mary White, who was released from slavery on 12 February 1787 in Evesham. Mary White was manumitted by Joseph Eves. The manumission document states that Mary White was an adult between 21 and 35 years old, but the exact age was not recorded.
The document was entered into the book by the County Clerk (John Phillips). The manumission record was signed by the Overseers of the Poor for the township (Enoch Evans and William Evans) and Justices of the Peace for Burlington County (Josiah Foster and Reece Edwards).
The source document was scanned by the New Jersey State Archives, which houses the original deed book.
Page 227 in the same book indicates that Joseph Eves also manumitted a woman named Hannah Mintus on the same day. - Event Type
