Dr. Isaac Harris Sr (1741-1808) was a physician who was born in Piscataway, Middlesex County, and spent the second half of his life in Pittsgrove, Salem County. He had served as a surgeon during the Revolutionary War and was one of the founders of the New Jersey State Medical Society of which he served as president in the 1790s.
He owned vast tracts of land in Salem and Cumberland Counties and held people in slavery. He died in 1808 and left instructions in his will that said the people he held in bondage in his household should be free when they reach age 35. - Keywords
