- Biographical Description
- Samuel Blackwood was an enslaver who lived in Gloucester County, New Jersey, in the early 19th century. His wife was named Rebecca. He was the son of Joseph Blackwood Esq., and he purchased from his father a Black girl named Rin or Marinda in the year 1800. After the death of Samuel Blackwood and his wife Rebecca, manumission documents were filed for Marinda in Deptford in 1815. This suggests that the Blackwoods were probably residents of Deptford, but their place of residence has not been definitively confirmed.
