Somerset County Register of Black Children and Manumissions, Book B, Page 1, contains a manumission record for Thomas, who was released from slavery on 13 December 1823 in Montgomery. Thomas was manumitted by Richard Stockton, the owner of the Morven mansion in Princeton (then part of Montgomery Township).
