Biographical Description
Isaac Laing manumitted a man named Dick Laing as part of a group manumission conducted by the Laing family of Woodbridge, NJ, on May 10, 1800. At the same time, Harry Laing manumitted a man named Huff Laing and Thomas Laing manumitted a man named Harry Laing.

The Laings were a Quaker family of Scottish origin.

Note that the Middlesex County Manumission Book contains another entry for one Isaac Laing Jr. of Woodbridge in 1802 (p. 32). It is possible that Isaac Laing who manumitted Dick in 1800 is the same as Issac Laing Jr. who manumitted Solomon in 1802, or these may be two separate people.
