- Thomas Hance was an official in Middlesex County, NJ, and held several different positions in the early decades of the 19th century, including Justice of the Peace, Judge of Common Pleas, and Overseer of the Poor for the Township of North Brunswick. In these roles he examined and certified manumissions as well as removals of enslaved people from New Jersey to other states.
