- Biographical Description
- Teunis was a Black man born around 1788. His exact place and date of birth are unknown. In 1814, when he was about 26 years old, enslaver Joseph Baldwin of Newark, NJ, sold Teunis to James Neilson (1784-1862) of New Brunswick, NJ. We can infer that this sale likely caused a relocation of Teunis from Newark to New Brunswick.
