- Biographical Description
- Peggy was an enslaved woman who lived in New Jersey, in the area of Middlesex County or a nearby county. Her date of birth and precise residence are uncertain. Her enslaver was probably a man named Henry Suydam, as inferred from a removal certificate issued in 1818 for Peggy's son Aaron, which stated that Aaron, Peggy, and Henry Suydam all appeared together before the Court of Common Pleas of Middlesex County to register Aaron's relocation to New York. See Aaron's 1818 removal registration event for more information about Peggy and her separation from her son.
