Hannah Grene was an enslaved woman who lived in New Jersey. She was born around 1797. She gave birth to a daughter named Rebecca Ann around 1814.
As of 1818, Hannah Grene was enslaved in the household of George Farmer of Belle Vue (an estate in Piscataway, Middlesex County, NJ), while her daughter Rebecca Ann was enslaved by John Smock of Monmouth County. A removal certificate from 1818 indicates that James K. Cook, a man from Virginia, intended to buy Hannah Grene and her daughter from their separate enslavers in New Jersey and to take them both to Virginia. - Keywords
