- Biographical Description
- Joseph Story was an enslaver who died circa 1811 in West Windsor, New Jersey. According to the inventory of his estate (which was valued at $1205), he held in bondage a woman named Jane Oppie, her husband Thomas Oppie, and three children (who were likely the children of Jane and Thomas Oppie). Story died without a will, and the administrators of his estate (Elizabeth Story and Joseph Story) manumitted Jane and Thomas Oppie in 1812.
