- Biographical Description
- Jane was a woman of African descent who was enslaved by Thomas Blackwell of Mapletown, NJ. She gave birth to 6 children in the Blackwell household between 1809 and 1817. After the death of Thomas Blackwell in 1825, Jane's children were enslaved by Thomas's son Austin Davis Blackwell. It seems likely that Jane likewise would be enslaved by Austin if she survived past 1825. Her birth and death dates are uncertain.
