- Biographical Description
- George was born in 1823, the son of Maria. In George's birth certificate, which was submitted by enslaver Abraham Dunham, his mother Maria was described as an "indented Black girl." The birth certificate also noted that Maria was currently bound out to Abraham Dunham's son Jonathan R. Dunham for a term of years. This suggests that George was born in the household of Jonathan R. Dunham where Maria was living at that time.
