- Biographical Description
- Sussex County Births of Enslaved Children microfilm contains a birth record for Charles, son of Silvah, who was enslaved by Elijah Everitt. Charles's enslaver was the owner of a mill property located on the Pequest River in the present-day area of Huntsville in Green Township, Sussex County (at that time, the village was known as Pettit's Mill and was within the boundaries of Hardwick Township). It can be inferred that Charles was likely born in that village.
