Sussex County Births of Enslaved Children microfilm contains a birth record for Peggy and for her older brother Adam, although their mother's name is not listed on the document. Peggy was born in 1810, as reported by her enslaver Everett Van Auken.
In 1826, Everett Van Auken reported that Peggy, a Black woman in his household, gave birth to a baby girl named Happy. It can be inferred that Peggy (b. 1810) is the same Peggy who gave birth to Happy in 1826, although this has not been definitively confirmed. - Keywords
