- Biographical Description
-
George Sherman was a printer who lived in Trenton, New Jersey. He was the publisher of the long-running Trenton Federalist newspaper in the early 19th century (as well as several of its predecessor publications in the 1790s).
His newspaper routinely printed runaway notices and slave sale advertisements. The sale ads sometimes invited prospective buyers to "inquire of the printer," indicating that Sherman helped facilitate these sales. - Keywords
