John Mershon was a printer in Trenton who was in business with George Sherman and is associated with several Trenton newspapers at the turn of the 19th century, particularly the New-Jersey State Gazette and later the Trenton Federalist.
His newspaper routinely printed runaway notices and slave sale advertisements. The sale ads sometimes invited prospective buyers to "inquire of the printer," indicating that Mershon helped facilitate these sales. - Keywords
