Biographical Description
Hannah was a Black woman born circa 1785. She was enslaved by Elijah Blackwell of Princeton, NJ, and ran away from him in 1805. Apparently, during her life in Blackwell's household, Hannah displayed a defiant attitude toward her enslaver. Blackwell's runaway for Hannah noted that she was small in size and had "a habit of rolling her eyes when spoken to."
