Runaway ad for Lindor and his bride, by John Baptist Cheilan, "Ten Dollars Reward," Federalist & New-Jersey State Gazette, April 20, 1802.
- Event Description
-
Lindor, aged 30, ran away from his enslaver in Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, April 10, 1802. His enslaver published a runaway ad for Lindor. The ad was signed J. B. Cheilan, which appears to refer to John Baptist Cheilan of Princeton.
Lindor ran away with his young bride, who was aged 18 and was described as a "mulatto girl" whose family was from Rocky Hill, NJ. The ad does not list the name of the bride and does not mention whether she was free or enslaved prior to her elopement with Lindor.
