- Description
- Warren is a township in Somerset County, New Jersey. It was formed in 1806 from a large portion of Bernards township and a small section of former Bridgewater. The territory of Warren originally included several communities that broke off to make separate municipalities after the Civil War: North Plainfield, Green Brook, and Watchung. These modern municipalities were all part of Warren township during the slavery era, and prior to 1806 they were part of Bernards.
