- Biographical Description
- Ezekiel Forman (1736-1795) was the older brother of General David Forman (1745-1797), a Revolutionary War leader in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Ezekiel Forman lived in Princeton in the 1760s and then lived in Philadelphia after the Revolutionary War. In 1789, he moved his family from Philadelphia to Natchez, Mississippi, to establish a tobacco plantation there as an agent for his brother Gen. David Forman. To start the plantation, Ezekiel transported a convoy of over 60 Black people from his brother David's estate in Freehold, Monmouth County (in the area of present-day Manalapan) to Mississippi. He then put them to work building dwellings, clearing land, and planting tobacco in Natchez. Ezekiel Forman died in Natchez in 1795.
