Biographical Description
Dick was a Black boy of mixed ancestry born circa 1806. He was enslaved by Daniel Woodmansee who lived near Princeton, New Jersey. Dick left Woodmansee's household in September 1822 together with a white man named John, probably in an attempt to seek freedom. However, the historical record of his situation is ambiguous, and it is also possible that he was kidnapped by John against his will.
