- Biographical Description
- Samuel Myers was born circa 1803. It appears he was born free. He was apprenticed to William Conover of Raritan Landing, Middlesex County, NJ. He ran away in 1822 prompting Conover to publish a runaway notice in a New Brunswick newspaper offering 6 cents reward for Myers's return. Myers was likely a man of African ancestry; he was described by William Conover as having a "dark complexion" and "brown curly hair."
