- Biographical Description
- A Black man or boy lived in the household of Col. William McCullough in the community of Asbury, Franklin Township, Sussex County (now in Warren County) in the early 19th century. His name and date of birth are uncertain and little is known about him aside from his residence at McCullough's and the fact that he had a brother named Peter. It can be inferred that he was most likely born into slavery, because it is known that his brother Peter was living in slavery in Trenton in 1818.
