Runaway ad for Peter Cuff, by Benjamin Field, "$20 REWARD," Fredonian, June 9, 1824, p. 4.
- Event Description
-
In April 1824, Peter Cuff ran away from Benjamin Field. About two months later, in June 1824, Benjamin Field submitted a runaway advertisement to the New Brunswick newspaper the Fredonian. The ad ran weekly until the end of November, pointing to Peter Cuff's success in evading capture.
The ad did not list the place of residence for Benjamin Field, but it can be assumed to be in the vicinity of New Brunswick. There were two adult men named Benjamin Field living in that area in the 1820s, and both were associated with Bound Brook, Somerset County. Thus it can be inferred that Peter Cuff ran away from Bound Brook.
