Slave sale ad for 2 Black women and 4 children, by Kenneth Hankinson, "FOR SALE," Trenton Federalist, September 27, 1802, p. 3.
- Event Description
-
In September 1802, enslaver Kenneth Hankinson advertised two Black women and four children for sale in Monmouth County, NJ. The ad did not specify whether the children were boys or girls or how old they were. This ad listed the location as simply "Monmouth." Another ad published by Hankinson identified him as a resident of Freehold Township, and it can be inferred that this sale advertisement probably also originated in Freehold.
