Description
Greenwich township is a municipality in Gloucester County, formed in 1695. Its eastern boundary was set in 1761, and a portion of its territory was used to create Woolwich township in 1767, Franklin in 1820, Spicer in 1844, Mantua in 1853, and East Greenwich in 1881. Paulsboro borough was created from Greenwich in 1904, with more land transferred to it in 1908 and 1961.

Greenwich township in Gloucester County is not to be confused with municipalities of the same name in Cumberland and Warren Counties.
