- Biographical Description
- Dinah was a Black woman born around 1788. In the early 19th century, she was enslaved by Joseph Barron in Woodbridge, Middlesex County, New Jersey. When she was about 17 years old, she ran away from Joseph Barron, according to a runaway ad for "Diner" published in 1805. Evidently, she was returned to Barron's house after this escape attempt because Middlesex County birth records indicate that Dinah later gave birth to two children at Barron's house, a son named Saul in 1806 and another son named George in 1810.
