- Biographical Description
- Peg was a Black girl or young woman who was enslaved by Samuel Finley, president of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University). She would have lived at the President's House on campus when Finley was serving as president in the 1760s. Finley's will, written in 1766 shortly before his death, stipulated that Peg would become the property of Finley's daughter Rebecca Breese. Peg's new enslaver, Rebecca Breese, died less than a year later, and Rebecca's husband Samuel Breese would presumably inherit Peg in 1767.
