Runaway ad for Sampson (alias Francis), by Oliver Hunt, "Thirty Dollars Reward," Trenton Federalist, April 4, 1808.
- Event Description
-
On Saturday night, March 26, 1808, Sampson (alias Francis) ran away from his enslaver Oliver Hunt near Princeton, NJ. This was at least Sampson's second escape attempt (he had run away from a different enslaver, Richard Stockton of Princeton, two years earlier).
Oliver Hunt published a runaway ad for Sampson, listing the man's age as "about thirty years," but he was probably older than 30 by then, considering that Richard Stockton's runaway ad for Sampson two years earlier also listed age 30.
