Kingwood is a township in western Hunterdon County, New Jersey, along the Delaware River. It was formed in 1749 from a portion of Bethlehem township.
In the mid-19th century, portions of Kingwood were taken to form Franklin (1845) and Frenchtown (1876). Thus, slavery-era records that mention Kingwood could be referring to locations within modern-day Franklin or Frenchtown. - Locality
