- Joseph Annin sold a Black woman named Sarah Green to the Rev. Robert Finley, the pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Basking Ridge, Bernards Township, Somerset County, New Jersey. The exact date of the sale is uncertain. It took place sometime before April 1817. A bill of sale for Sarah Green has not been found, but the sale is mentioned in a manumission deed for Sarah Green, which was signed by Robert Finley on 17 April 1817. In that document, Finley noted that he intended to manumit and set free "a woman of colour lately purchased of Joseph Annin."
