- Description
-
Lumberton is a township in Burlington County, New Jersey. It was formed in 1860 from portions of Medford, Southampton, and Northampton townships. A part of Lumberton was given to Easthampton in 1882, and another part broke off to form Hainesport in 1924.
During the colonial era, the western part of present-day Lumberton was officially within Evesham township and the eastern part was within Northampton township. For this reason, early records for the area may be found among Evesham or Northampton records. - Locality
